Recreational Use Of Marijuana
Illinois has become the 11th state in the country to legalize the recreational use and purchase of marijuana. Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker, who was elected last year, signed the bill into law on Tuesday, fulfilling a key campaign promise. The state joins 10 others and the District of Columbia in allowing recreational use. The legislation takes effect on Jan. 1, 2020.
Mercy, CoxHealth announces they will

Mercy said in a statement its doctors will not be "recommending medical marijuana treatment" for its patients."Mercy believes there is insufficient medical and scientific research on the benefits and risks of cannabis products as part of medical treatment," it said. CoxHealth spokeswoman Kaitlyn McConnell said the hospital's care for it's patients will not change, regardless of testing positive for medical marijuana.

A little more than a week ago, the Illinois Legislature overwhelmingly voted in favor of House Bill 1438, which is a measure that will legalize recreational marijuana throughout the Land of Lincoln by Jan. 1, 2020. The bill allows adults aged 21 and over to purchase and possess up to 30 grams of cannabis, with nonresidents allowed to possess up to half the amount of state residents.
